Sensory Play Activity ideas for developing skills

Sensory Play Activity ideas for  developing skills

Children below the age of 5 years tend to learn and become acquainted with their environment using their senses of seeing, tasting, hearing, touching and smelling this helps in developing nerve connections in the brain.

Why is sensory play important

The use of sensory play assist the child in touching, smelling and feeling textures in a safe environment.

This will make the child to explore more and develop an inquisitive mind.

The activity with touch stabilizes hand and brain co-ordination.

The interest to touch and feel comes naturally to all of us.

Feeling and smelling activity gives stability to mind and gives a sense of grounding.

Here is the visual video on how to make this sensory activity.

The child when using this toy will develop the sense of touch as each textured cloth type is rough, smooth and soft to touch.

Sensory play does not have to be set up and managed with fancy materials, it can be created using objects which are easily available, recycled materials can be used too. One can also touch assorted objects with guidance and learn the names of different textures like checks, pebbles, wire, wool etc.
