Freehand drawing
A freehand drawing is drawn without using instruments such as a ruler or a pair of compasses. The artist has the picture already formed in the mind. Visually the idea is represented on a 2-dimensional paper or a surface. A freehand drawing means what the artist sees that idea is conveyed without any words but in the form of pictures.
The first example of freehand drawing is seen in cave paintings many many centuries back. The artistic caveman or cave women drew their daily life activity done inside the cave. The scenes depicted were hunting, food gathering etc. Basic shapes and lines were used.
An artist develops their own style of conveying an idea to the people. It could be in the form of paintings and sketches.

Types of drawing.
There are different types drawing which has evolved according to the needs of the people. They are as follows
1) Dimensional drawings:This drawing involves more of drawing in 3d on a flat surface. Here technical skills have to be learnt by the artist. Perspective and proportional drawing of the object is required.
2) Memory drawings: This kind is related to theme and events kind of drawings like, the artist will draw a fair happening in a village, festivals, national holidays and scenery and landscapes paitings.
3) Indoor/outdoor drawings: In indoor drawing the artist will draw still life of objects and plants. Portraits of people.The drawings are realistic. Importance is given to learning of sketching and shading. The artist develops good observational skills, as they draw everything in detail. Example is of portraits of kings and queens and people done by artists like Raja Ravi Verma. Outdoor drawings can be of nature, plants, street view.
4) Imagination drawings: Here the artist uses his own techniques to create a new visual art form.
The artist may combine two or three different objects shapes to create a new contemporary art form.
5) Abstract drawings : The artist uses elements of design, different forms of art and colour medias, superimposes pictures and creates an impactable picture.
All these drawings are done on paper, canvas, fabrics and are done digitally also.
