At one time or the other we all have done paper weaving in school. This art can be done using reusable materials.
Paper weaving can be an art activity for school level.
At school school level placing different strips of paper in front of kids and asking them to weave becomes an engaging hand eye coordination artwork.
Step 1
Different kinds of colour paper, newspapers, magazines. Scissors, cardboard base to weave.
Step2. Make slits in the cardboard base.
Step3. Insert colourful strips of paper through the slits to create different patterns.

What is Weaving ?
The first step in creating fabric is yarn production. The raw materials like cotton , jute, silk that have been harvested and processed are transformed from raw fibers into yarn and threads. Weaving is a method of textile production in which two distinct sets of yarns or threads are interlaced at right angles to form a fabric or cloth. The longitudinal threads are called the warp and the lateral threads are the weft or filling.This process of joining the yarn together is called weaving.
How yarn is created?
Weaving is done on a machine known as a loom and requires two sets of yarn. The weaving done in traditional ways is called ―Handloom. The ones produced with automated machines are called ―Power-loom.

Weaving started 12000 years back in neolithic period. Neolithic period is characterised by humans beings settling in one place. The people weaved baskets , roof for their homes using twigs and leaves and plants.
